Get On the Lake

Current Norfork Lake Conditions

Current Conditions As of April 13, 2015

Spring is here on Norfork Lake, warm days and cooler nights make for a pleasant trip to the lake, typical of the Ozark Mountains this time of year. The dogwoods and red buds are waking from their winter sleep and the forest is greening up nicely.

The lake has been very calm and peaceful as of late and is great shape. Clean, flat as glass, and warming up, just as you would expect Norfork Lake to be.

The lake level rose a bit lately, not uncommon for the spring. We are about 3 feet higher than normal. The shoreline is still in the buck brush at most locations, perfect conditions for your spring fishing trip. All Norfork Lake Tourism members report operating as usual. The Corps of Engineer parks and campgrounds are operating on their spring schedule. Be sure to call 870-425-2700 for campsite availability.

Speaking of fishing, THE BITE”S ON, especially the night shift bite. The action has been in the creeks, the flatter points, and the dam area. Check with your favorite chamber member or our local fishing reports for the most up to date conditions.

For you anglers, the stripers are still somewhat scattered. The night bite is in it's early stages and the top water action is just around the corner. There are some crappie and walleye being boated right now too!

For the best dates, better make your spring and summer plans now. We’re filling fast!

The lake is fully accessible and ready to be enjoyed. Access to Norfork Lake and the North Fork River is available at all locations.

All launch ramps are in operating under their normal schedule. For the most current information, check the marina condition reports in the left column of this page or contact your favorite Norfork Lake Chamber member. .

The member marinas do a wonderful job of maintaining their level of access and service. As always, all are offering fuel, boat rentals, overnight boat stalls, snacks, ice, and etc. Call ahead for fall/winter operating hours.

All member resorts are open and operating in a “business as usual” mode.

Check with the Corps of Engineers local office for current access information 870-425-2700. All chamber member RV parks are open and fully functional.

Overall, fishing has been incredible this year and will be for years to come. Because of the 2002, 2008, and 2009 higher spring water levels, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission reports the Norfork Lake fish population has exploded. For up to date information, check the current fishing reports published on our fishing reports web page or with your favorite chamber member. Now is a good time to book that guided Norfork Lake Striper fishing trip. The bite is on! And bring a big net, a really big net.

Absolutely! Norfork Lake is nationally famous for its pollution free waters. The Corps of Engineers report no concerns regarding the safety. The water quality of Norfork Lake is one of the best in the country.

Really not much. The same great features that Norfork Lake is nationally famous and that you are accustomed to are available for your enjoyment. You will find access, conditions, and approaches to the parks, marinas, and resort boat docks normal for this time of year.

Spring is here on Norfork Lake. Better make your plans and
reservations early for the best dates!

Don’t you think it’s time to get your boat on the lake?
